npcs are deeper out im hearing reports of elite anacondas interdicting explorers 4000ly out and those are npcs. no signs of aliens however. but a good fitting regardless

I'm still more afraid of my own incompetence when scooping fuel :-) So I go with the chillier build. It's just what risk you're willing to take I guess.

I would keep the Fuel Rats on speed-dial It's more that I tend to get a bit unattentive after my 537th jump and overheat when scooping. I find that overheating is my biggest enemy when exploring so a ship that can handle some scooping accidents and maybe a misjump in between a binary pair better feels better to me than one that can stand up to a pirate attack. It would be interesting to know how many explorers die because of overheating versus pirates. Now it's just guesswork.

I've jumped into the corona (caronae?) of 2 binary systems while exploring. It's a rare occurrence, but terrifying when it happens.
