I think they over-fixed it. I was there yesterday and got an Asp full of crystalline gold back. Made over 2 million credits and I didn't even need to fly all the way back to the bubble.

Its actually a good thing, with the smuggling missions getting a massive reduction in frequency it is a good way of making profits ( plus this systems wealth / export values in the background simulation are going to sky rocket because of all the sothis crystalline gold exports)

I'm not complaining! But I am curious if this is a mistake, a temporary fix to keep the people who flew there for the missions happy, or a permanent change. I got my first Python yesterday so I'll be flying there to load up before checking out the supposed HIP 8396 community goal. As I remember HIP 8396 is the perfect distance from Sothis for a rares run, around 160ly. And by selling the crystalline gold there I'll be helping the Sirius faction in that system too.

Yup its a benefit that the rares runs in terms of profit range actually benefit us at both ends ( as long as we get control of newholm station back in sothis) but with the weight of random pilot traffic its not something we can readily influence.
Not sure if its a temporary or permanent fix , still waiting to see what the devs do in coming weeks/months.

As long as we don't get kicked out of Sothis altogether we can always get the Sirius faction back on top when the commotion around the CGs and smuggling missions dies down. Until then I hope the extra economic stimulus of having that many players there increases the Sothis population so the power balance there will be more stable in the future. But I'm not sure if the background simulation actually grows population size that way.

Our influence has moved up and down between 10-20% in sothis during and since the CG. Unless theres 7 factions in system and an outside attempts to expand into one of our systems and we are the smallest influence and under 1% we cant be kicked out of a system just relegated to a minor entity.
Theres no way of population upgrades currently, but the massive wealth spike will probably in the background simulation boost the systems wealth statistics. Perhaps Fdev might follow things up with other CGs or changes.
It will be nice once populatin growth/shrinkage mechanics are intorduced in some way and players can affect this for now though the system is stuck at 100,000 population.
